On July 28th it was reported that a photo of the A14 chip to be used in the IPHONE 12 series was first exposed by foreign media, and it was also mentioned that TSMC is now making the chip at full capacity, based on its 5nm process report, the serial number on the chip shows that it was manufactured in the 16th week of 2020, in April of this year. The date is right around the time the A14 was rumored to be in production. The 2020 IPHONE will carry a 5nm process A14 chip, which is faster and more power efficient, and a neural network engine that speeds up AI and AR tasks better. As for the Apple A14 processor, which uses TSMC's 5nm process and is at least 15% faster (30% less power consumption) than the A13, apple has also upgraded the AI module, machine learning is about twice as efficient as A13. Earlier, others reported Geekbench scores for the early Apple A14, with 1,559 for single core and 4,047 for multi core, compared with 1,339 for single core and 3,571 for multi core. As you can see, the A14 is a huge improvement over the A13. According to a source in the upstream chain, apple had previously placed additional orders for the processor used in the iPhone 12 series because of the tight initial production capacity of 5nm, mainly due to its low process yield, in order to secure its iPhone 12 line, apple has to place more orders ahead of time, and that's how they're getting TSMC to prioritize their own orders. Apple's IPHONE 12 series, due to be released in 2020, is expected to include four models, all with A14 processors, but while they all support 5g networks, the baseband is not integrated into the processor (the QUALCOMM Snapdragon X55) , this also greatly reduced the difficulty of chip packaging. In order to ensure its own use needs, according to industry sources, apple has contracted two thirds of TSMC's 5nm production capacity. It started mass production in June this year, and TSMC has already completed the trial production of the 5nm process, at present, the yield has climbed to 50% (this performance is better than the initial stage of 7nm process development) , the initial production capacity of 50,000 pieces per month, and then will gradually increase to 70-80,000 pieces. In addition, sources in the upstream industry chain said that apple has adjusted orders for this year's iPhone 12 to a maximum of 87 million units (including 4G and 5G models) , and that the new iPhone will be released in batches, lG Display, which supplies OLED screens for the 6.1-inch iPhone 12, is expected to ship 23-25m units, while Samsung expects to ship 18m-20m units for the 5.4-inch iPhone 12 and 16m-18m units for the high-end 6.1-inch iPhone 12, 22 million to 24 million iphones shipped for the 6.7 inch iPhone 12.
